3D Glass Text Animation

.about

When Fintopio reached 10 million wallets, I identified an opportunity to transform their milestone announcement from standard social graphics into something memorable. The challenge was to create a premium 3D animation that would stop scrollers mid-feed while maintaining brand consistency and deliverability.

The concept centered on glass typography, a visual metaphor for transparency and value that aligned with Fintopio's fintech positioning. The looping format was strategic for extended social media shelf life and repeat engagement.

What began as a passion-driven proposal became a lesson in balancing creative ambition with production realities. While the animation never launched due to timeline constraints and revision cycles, the project sharpened my approach to scoping render-intensive work.

.my role

3D Motion Designer | Brand Execution

3D Animation & Typography:
Designed and animated glass typography with custom materials, lighting setups, and seamless loop mechanics tailored for social media consumption.

Brand Translation:
Adapted existing glass tutorial techniques to align with Fintopio's color palette, tone, and milestone messaging without compromising visual impact.

Material Development:
Crafted premium glass shaders and refined lighting to achieve high-end reflections, refractions, and depth that conveyed quality and achievement.

Client Collaboration: Navigated evolving feedback and revision requests while managing render dependencies and delivery expectations on a tight timeline.

.challenge & process

Stage 1: Opportunity Identification
Recognized that Fintopio's milestone deserved more than flat graphics. Proposed a 3D glass animation concept that would differentiate their announcement in crowded social feeds while reflecting their premium positioning in fintech.

Stage 2: Strategic Foundation
Leveraged Duck3D's glass typography workflow as a technical starting point, then customized every element to match brand guidelines. Prioritized loop structure for sustained engagement and shareability across platforms.

Stage 3: Material & Motion Refinement
Focused on lighting design and glass material properties to balance visual drama with brand subtlety. Animation timing was calibrated for social media attention spans, with the loop designed to feel seamless and natural.

Stage 4: Reality vs. Timeline
Revision requests compounded with render-intensive production created an unsustainable delivery path. Despite creative progress, project logistics led to shelving the work, highlighting critical gaps in upfront scope alignment.
